Contemporary living through local tradition
Based in Puglia’s Valle d’Itria, Tarek Waked Studio designs architecture and interiors, tailoring each project to the client’s lifestyle while preserving the local character.
We are deliberately style-agnostic—minimal, eclectic, rustic, grand, or anything in between—focusing instead on the right architecture and interior architecture to host those preferences with coherence and longevity. Balancing design and spatial sensibility, we translate contemporary living through tradition, collaborating with local artisans to craft doors, windows, bespoke joinery, and furniture in locally sourced materials. The result is spaces that feel intimate, grounded, and made to measure.
Projects by mood
A selection of current and recent projects, grouped by mood and aesthetic.
Minimal
Private apartment in the historic centre of Ceglie Messapica — a calm, minimal shell with sculptural travertine stairs, a stainless-steel kitchen, and modern lighting for everyday rituals at home.
Eclectic
Private trulli and lamia in the countryside of Ceglie Messapica — stone vaults, vintage pieces, and bespoke joinery layered together for an eclectic, lived-in retreat with colour and pattern.
Neoclassic
Private penthouse in the hills of Zahle — neoclassical bones reworked with custom joinery, a 20-metre gallery corridor, and mother-of-pearl jewels that catch and scatter the light.
Grand
Private masseria in the countryside of Ceglie Messapica — vaulted stone rooms, generous reception spaces, and bespoke furniture designed for relaxed but grand entertaining with family and friends.
Rustic
New villa in the countryside of Ceglie Messapica — local stone inset into the build, arched openings, and limewashed walls balanced with clean lines for a rustic-modern house.
Modern
Trulli and lamia in the countryside of Ostuni — historic cones linked by glass and steel volumes, fluted doors, and detailing for a modern retreat in the olive groves.
